I spent the last week of August in Pennsylvania, and at the end of a great week-long stay with my sister, we visited Brian's sister and saw Joseph at Sight and Sound in Lancaster.
I'm sure he's changed even more by now, but here are a few pictures of Noam from that trip; he was just about 3 months old at the time.
There's a slight resemblance to Uncle Brian.
At this point, September is sort of a haze...I remember getting back home and feeling totally overwhelmed by the amount of peppers that needed to be picked. As Brian said yesterday, "It turns out 300 pepper plants is really a lot of peppers." Uh, yeah. That might be the understatement of the year.
The dahlias were blooming nicely when I returned. I was so excited that this one did well this year. This is a 'Maki' dahlia that I ordered from Breck's a couple of years ago. The first year the tubers did nothing, so I got replacements. The second year they grew but never bloomed. Finally this year, beautiful, dinner-plate sized blooms. I love the dark pink streaks and yellowish center.
The cosmos outside our bedroom window were open as well. I have really enjoyed looking out at them every morning!
This next flower is an angel's trumpet. They open late in the day, but sometimes if the sun isn't too bright they are still mostly open in the morning. The insects love these huge trumpets, and I love that they are perennial.
Okay, that gets me caught up through mid-September. Only a month more to get up to the current news!
