Yesterday we separated the lambs from the ewes and started the process of weaning. Painful for everyone, including our neighbors near and far who have to listen to all the crying. Mainly it's the lambs that cry, but there is an occasional response from their mamas. The lambs are now on hay and barley and confined to a pen for a few days. Once we move the ewes over to the farm we rent (where the lambs will not be tempted to run through fences to get to their mamas) the lambs will go back out on pasture.
Tony will soon be back with his flock. He's been with the rams since lambing began in March, but in a few days he will be going in with the lambs. It looks like he's ready!
